I just want to take this opportunity to give all the Glory back to God. You know, I get complimented all the time: after I play at church, or on my YouTube page. But all I can really say to that is, Praise the Lord! It’s only by His grace, and His work in and through me that I have this talent in the first place.
Honestly, I am not very talented at all. Well, of course I do have an ear for music, more than most others I suppose. But what I am most thankful to God for is the patience and drive that He gave me to really learn my craft well. So I encourage everyone out there. Music is a life long pursuit, especially for the purpose praising God.
The music director at my church likes to use the phrase “levels of excellence” to describe at which point someone is at, musically. Whether someone is a beginner, or someone is like me, and has been playing and performing for more than a decade they are at a certain level of excellence. Everyone is working to achieve the next level of excellence, but once they do, there is yet more levels to be achieved. There’s always something to learn, something to work on and perfect.
So I really want to encourage everyone who watches my videos and who wants to learn the songs that I post here. Our duty here is to Glorify God, and to excel still more (1 Thes. 4:1).
